From the mouth of Margaret.....
I know I say it all the time, but I am constantly amazed at the things my daughter says. Margaret, when you read this one day, I hope you laugh until you cry, as I do many, many days of our life....
-She found some flowers that I had put on her little frog table and I asked her where she thought they came from. She promptly stated, "Maybe some kind stranger left them for us."
-Melissa told Marg that she could not walk out on the new dock by herself until she was 12 and she stated, "But when I am 3, I get cupcakes!"
-Her birthday has been a big topic of conversation lately. "NO boys at my home party!" "just big boys at the home party (meaning Daddy, Uncle El, Uncle Matthew, Gramps, Grandpa, Cousin Mike, David) "The only little boys are John Christian and his baby brother,,," ( she has been coached on this one a bit--but is ok with it!)"Spiders and bugs on my cupcakes...." (she is obviously remembering the Halloween cupcakes!)
-The stinky car...Quite a while back, Margaret and I were traveling and wound up behind a stinky car. It was a brown car that was a late model something and was sort of dirty and beat up looking. This car has REALLY stuck in her mind! Now every time we see a brown car even if it a nice one that does not have any odor, she yells "There's the stinky car!" Yesterday, we were out walking on the dam and she spotted a dark colored car and yelled, "STINKY CAR!" and pointed. Melissa and I were a little embarassed since the owner of the car was right there!
-Lately, as well as being a little bit defiant, Margaret is quite clingy. She often stays, even when I am holding her, "Mommy, I want you!" or demands, "Mommy, PLAY with me!
-She is also VERY into pretend play, "Let's pretend that you're EO and I'm Pumkin."
-On Sunday, EO and El gave Marg and I Valentine's treats. They were sweet enough to give me one of my favorite junk food treats, CHeetos! YIKES--can you say, not so healthy! We explained to Marg that Cheetos were "junk food" but sometimes we eat them anyway because they are yummy, but we don't eat so much because they are not healthy for our bodies. Anyway, Monday at lunch I got out my cheetos to have a few and Marg said "UGGG, Mommy, those are junk food!" WOW--she is hard core!
-As we were eating lunch today, EO had to run downstairs and Olivia was a little miffed! Margaret said, "We'll take care of her!"
-We were talking about one of Melissa's friends babies and Margaret picked up on the conversation and stated emphatically, "????? is having a boy baby!" We were not even really talking about this person (whose name we will not mention because she is early in the pregnancy) just about a baby...
-Margaret is convinced that since she is 2 years old she needs two of everything. About a month ago we were eating cookies and Marg said she needed 2 since she was 2. Then she asked how old I was and proceeded to say, very sweetly, "Mommy, you can have 31 cookies, since you 31!"
-Margaret has been very impressed with being my "helper" lately. It really seems to keep her in line to give her a job to do! She made up a little rhyme about being my helper and I am mentioning it to remind myself to post about it when I remember exactly what she said! If only I had a tape recorder on ALL the TIME so I would not forget the unbelievable comments!!
-When driving home from the lake, Margaret stated that she wanted to sit in the front seat. I explained that it is safer for her to sit in her car seat and that she can not sit in the front until she is 12. She then stated that she wanted to "go to the circus and share a cupcake with the clown when she was 12." Shortly after this statement (which I have not IDEA where it came from) she revised and said, "I want to go to the circus when I am 3!"
-It has been raining.....after drying off Marg's swing and slide for her I ran inside to check on supper. She ran to me saying "the hold on part is still wet." She was very distressed that her hands had gotten when when she held on to her swing!
