MRI results are in...

Hooray!! Today was not nearly as bad as we expected. Margaret was quite the trooper with not being able to eat or drink this am and with getting the IV in her hand. She barely cried. She bonded with the nurse who was with her for the whole procedure for the hour or so we waited before things got started, so she was pretty ok with her sticking her for the IV. Marg fell asleep in my arms and woke up in them too. I don't even thing she knows she left...YEAH!
The hardest part of the day has been dealing with a drunk little girl who has been too uncomfortable (we were not able to give her pain med until this afternoon) and too just beligerant to go to sleep. So after going to bed late last night and not having a nap today other than when she was under and then all the drugs...we have quite the fuss bug! Margaret is actually still a pretty drunk fuss bug--she will hopefully back to her old self by morning. Please notice her silly smile and glassy eyes in the picture! She was a sight to see! They said all effects should wear off by 24 hours after the first dosage of medicine.
The other hard part of the day has been waiting for the doctor to call with the test results. I talked to her just a little while ago and she had been trying to call us since around 3. I guess the phones are having issues due to the storm that we are having and my cell phone does not work here! Anyway, Margaret's thoracic and lumbar spine is clear of infection and/or tumors!! What a relief!! The MRI was completely normal as far as her back is concerned --that is all they looked at. The somewhat frustrating part is that we still have no explanation for her complaints. It has become obvious to be that her complaints are real--she is quite uncomfortable when she does not have the anti-inflamatory medicine.
So you ask, where do we go from here? That is what I wanted to know too. I am really tired of seeing my little girl hurt and fussy! The doctor suggested an ortho referral and to begin some PT. LUCKILY, I know a pretty good pediatric PT so we will begin that this weekend. We will be calling about possibly seeing an orthopedist if things are not at least a little better after a week of therapy sort of stuff. We will continue with the medicine as long as she complains of pain. IF anyone has any suggestions or ideas we welcome them as we are at a loss of what else we should do! It is frustrating not to be able to solve a problem and know how to fix it!! But thanks be to GOD that we have ruled out any really scary stuff!
These pictures are of Margaret riding in her wagon after we got home--she could not walk because she would fall--so we did circles around the inside of the house (it has been storming). This one on the left is Romeo and me pulling her as she is trying to escape--quite characteristic of the day!

I am glad that the MRI part is over! I kept checking back with Melissa via IM Friday afternoon b/c I could not get y'all out of my mind! Margaret is on our church's prayer list & I will just keep her there for a while until she is fully healed! I wish I could do more!
Thinking of all of you, Rebecca
