More Lab Tests....

This silly girl thinks that the "head tilt" is the same as a smile! This is the best I could get today! We will post more fun pics later--I am vowing to take my camera everywhere from now on!
After a pretty rough Thursday, we called the doctor again on Friday morning.Margaret complained of pain much more often on Thursday. She needed to be rocked to be comforted and going to sleep for nap and bedtime was a nightmare. Her appetite was also again next to nothing. She did enjoy her corn on the cobb but that was about it and Friday breakfast was next to nothing. Not like my girl! Anyway, it is so hard to figure if she was just upset about the day before and all the investigating we had done about the back pain or if things are really worse or what. We really expected to hear less complaints because we have been giving her motrin around the clock per doctors orders. The doctor called us right back and sent us back to the hospital for more labs.
Jonathan was able to skip out on work and come with us to help both of us be brave. The last blood drawing experience was such a nightmare that I really did not want to do it again alone! We were smart and pre-registered over the phone (on the way there--thank God for cell phones!!) and saved A LOT of time. When we got to the lab the receptionist recognized Marg and was very nice. We got a different nurse this time WHO WAS GREAT!! This nurse was very upbeat and Margaret was very interested in her braids, I think--they looked sort of pinkish if I am remembering right! Anyway, she was really smart and gave stickers BEFORE the stick and had the Hello Kitty bandaid ready for after, and she was very fast and precise. MARGARET DID NOT EVEN CRY!! We again had to fill two viles of blood, but she was fine with it! What a brave girl. One day she will read this and be as amazed at herself as we were!
After the blood draw, we were off to Orangeburg for Jonathan's mom's retirement party. She has been working for 30 something years and we were honored to sit at the head table for her big celebration. Congratulations Mimi on your retirement--if you read this!
After the party, I got the call that the blood results were back. I was ready to hear that the levels were high and we needed to do more tests (always prepare for the worst, right?) and really ready to hear that all was normal and that my girl is a bit of a drama queen (hope for the best...). I was not prepared to hear that the level that indicates inflamation was higher but not a whole lot higher so we will wait....The doctor instructed us to change from motrin to something she called in that is like aleve (i think), to watch her closely, call if she ran fever or stopped playing/acting normal because of pain, and to really downplay and distract when she mentioned the pain. I am to call her on Monday to see what the next step will be. She mentioned that the next test to be done would be a bone scan or MRI--YIKES! Hopefully, we will not have to go that route.
Last night and today have been good. We stayed at mom's house and Margaret had a ball and was very distracted by the new environment and toys. We have not been there in two weeks. She did complain a little about her back but not as much as on Thursday and she was easily consoled. This morning we went strawberry picking--and I did not have my camera! Sorry, I have had a lot of my mind! We will definately go back soon and take pictures! Tonight we had a great dinner (just the girls--JL is out of town) and baked a cake to go with our strawberries for tomorrow. She has complained today about her back but was easily distracted/consoled other than at naptime when she screamed her head off! I think part of that was her being really overtired---it is sooooo hard to know.
We will update the blog when we have any more news. Thanks for all the comments and calls!
